From what we can see in the video, Minecraft\u2019s sniffer is a hairy \u2013 or perhaps mossy \u2013 prehistoric creature. The creature\u2019s story tells us that it has been extinct for some time, but if we vote for it, we might start finding mysterious eggs hidden in underwater ruin chests, which can be carefully nursed and hatched, bringing these extinct creatures back into the normal world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once back in Minecraft\u2019s many biomes, sniffers will do exactly what their name suggests. When they sniff, the flowers drop seeds. This is a brand new mechanic because, for now, Minecraft flowers only drop their own seeds. With the seeds, we might have the chance to grow those flowers that we currently can\u2019t. In the reveal video, Tiny Agnes hints that the Sniffer could also bring in new flora, perhaps an ancient plant similar to that of her time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breeding Sniffers is a straightforward process in Minecraft. You need to bring two Sniffers together and wait for them to find Torchflower seeds. Once they find the seeds, you feed them to the Sniffers to get them into “love mode”. After that, a Sniffer egg will be dropped. It takes about 20 minutes for the Snifflet (baby Sniffer) to grow into an adult Sniffer. The parents need a 5-10 minute break (cooldown) before they are ready for another round of breeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite being one of the largest mobs in the game, the Sniffer’s health is not reflective of its size. It has 14 health points, equivalent to seven player hearts. Sniffers regenerate one heart after they’re fed a Torchflower seed. They are susceptible to damage from fire, lava, and falling, and are not immune to drowning or suffocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finding and Hatching Sniffer Eggs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sniffers do not spawn naturally in the game’s world. Instead, players have to find an ancient egg in the form of a Snifflet. This egg can be excavated from the suspicious sand blocks in the warm ocean ruins. Once the egg is found, it can be hatched to reveal a Snifflet, which will grow into a full-sized Sniffer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
