How to get the Looting enchantment

You can add the Looting enchantment to any sword using an enchantment table, anvil or game command. Then use the enchanted sword in battle and watch your enemies drop more items when they die!

How to use the Looting Enchantment

The Looting enchantment increases the maximum number of common items by 1 per level. It increases the chance of uncommon drops by making a second loot attempt if the first attempt failed. The chance of success of this second attempt is level / (level + 1). Looting also increases uncommon drop chances and equipment drops by 1 percentage point per level.

Looting affects all shots made while holding the enchanted item in the main hand, not just shots with the enchanted item. For example, a player can shoot a projectile and then switch to the item with Looting before the projectile hits the target to get the effect, or can shoot a projectile from the left hand while holding an enchanted item with Looting in the main hand. The enchantment can thus work with arrows fired from a bow or tridents thrown, as long as the player is holding the enchanted weapon when the arrow or trident lands.

Using commands to get levels above 3 works as expected, adding higher numbers with a weight of 1. However, high enough numbers (such as level 2500) can crash the game due to too many dropped item entities.
