Hytale finally publishes precise hardware requirements before early access. 2The studio aims to remain accessible while supporting heavy simulation, a vast world, and a heavily processor-dependent engine.
Key points before configuring your setup
- Hytale relies on infinite procedurally generated terrain, active AI, and demanding local simulation.
- In single-player, your machine handles both the client and the server, which increases CPU load.
- In multiplayer, the remote server lightens the workload, improving performance.
- Render distance strongly impacts requirements. Doubling the visible range quadruples the amount of blocks to simulate.
- The studio recommends 384 blocks as a balanced value, but modest machines will need to lower this setting.

Linux and Mac versions will arrive later; current requirements apply to Windows. The studio states they are working on dedicated configurations for older Macs with Intel processors and newer Apple Silicon models.
The team is also studying Steam Deck compatibility. On paper, the game could run on it, but the lack of reliable testing, adapted controls, and an interface designed for small screens means players should wait.

Storage, Network, and Render Distance
The installation requires about 8 GB. An explored world can exceed 600 MB depending on your travel. The studio advises a minimum of 10 GB available, or 20 GB if you play for a long time on the same map.
For multiplayer, bandwidth depends mainly on render distance. At 192 blocks, 2 to 4 Mbit/s is sufficient. At 480 blocks, up to 10 Mbit/s is needed. Mini-games consume significantly less data and remain accessible on slower connections.
Mods for Hytale will demand even more resources.
Why your CPU is critical
Hytale prioritizes the CPU over the GPU. Once the minimum graphics threshold is met, upgrading the processor often has a bigger impact than changing the graphics card.
Memory also plays a key role, particularly for high render distances and very vast worlds.
Optimization is still a work in progress
The studio reminds players that these requirements will evolve during early access. Memory management, simulation, and rendering are still under development. Performance is expected to improve with future updates.
